About the Director

Maria-Sophia Macedonio is a New York State certified art teacher who has her Masters Degree from Stony Brook University.
As an undergraduate at Stony Brook, she majored in art and psychology, and focused on painting, printmaking, and Modern art history.
As a graduate student at Stony Brook, she concentrated on studio art and art education.
Maria has also studied at The Cape Cod School of Art, Llojeta, Barcelona, and extensively at School of Visual Arts, NY.

Maria is a full-time art teacher in the Connetquot Central School District. She has taught at the Islip Art Museum, guest lectured at Five Towns College and The Heckscher Museum of Art and has served on the panel for the NYSIT Decentralization Grant Committee which provides grants to artists.

Ms Macedonio has shown her work extensively on Long Island and has had her paintings reviewed in The New York Times, The Suffolk Times, and The Riverhead News Review.

Maria opened the art center doors as a young entrepreneur in 1998. Through the years she has offered fine art classes for all ages, focusing on drawing, painting, and sculpture.
